Delicacy?

Unfortunately I woke up this morning with a pounding headache. I don’t drink, so you can forget about THAT! I had made a sort of ‘deal’ with myself that on weekends I would cook a nice breakfast.

A ‘nice breakfast’ in the Netherlands is quite different from our weekend breakfasts in Canada. In Canada it was usually egg based. My Dad would make eggs the way you want them, pancakes or french toast, sausage or bacon.. sometimes hash browns.

Now my idea of making a nice breakfast is throwing some pre -made rolls into the oven and putting various toppings on the table. Jam, hagelslag (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hagelslag for further explaination) peanut butter, cheeses, and various different cold cuts (for the BF).

Since I’m a vegetarian and he’s the biggest carnivore in Europe.. I’ve found it difficult to find common ground as far as food goes. Custom made ‘breakfast’ sandwiches seems like an easy fix.

I tried making French toast, (American) pancakes, eggs and toast etc, but Peter never really seemed so enthusiastic about it.

You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, and you certainly can’t take away bread from a Dutchie.
